Parents and ice sculptures

Mom and dad made the trip north to check out our lives up north. We had a whirlwind of a day, making all aspects of our lives part of the grand tour. The highlights were a sudden death 3 person Perudo finish, won by dad, and the World Ice Sculpture Competition, which just opened. Here is one of my favorites

They blew my mind to pieces. I had no idea such intricacy and detail could be achieved with ice. I can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Great day of little work

A ski on the Tanana and Chena River with Scout, note Alaska Range in background

And after joining Kate for the Alaska Archaeology conference, we helped organize bags and booties for our friend Chris who is mushing a 200 mile race this weekend. These pictures remind me of my dad's old slides from his mushing years. Only the snack bar wrappers have changed I think...

Kate's amazing handwriting made for awesome drop bags.
